Understanding Autism
Duration: 1hr
Course Description: Autism is a complex neurological disorder that affects learning, language development, and social skills. It is often accompanied by other physiological and cognitive disorders.

Research into the cause of autism, as well as the cause of the increase in cases diagnosed each year, has led to many different conclusions. It is now believed that there are many different subsets of autism, each of which are caused by a different trigger or set of triggers. Further study will help unravel the puzzling causes of autism. Research into the causes and types of autism will be explored, as well as what the future is likely to hold for individuals with autism.

In this course, some of the major aspects of autism will be covered, from myths and the early history of autism, to modern research into the causes and a cure, to how families deal with many facets of life with autism. Learning what to expect when interacting with individuals with autism will also be covered, as well as tips on how to interact successfully and effectively.
